What I find cool about being a banned author is this: I'm writing books that evoke a reaction, books that, if dropped in a lake, go down not with a whimper but a splash.
Kids are smart. Knowledge is power. Let them figure things out. Don't turn into that grown-up who they won't come to.
I'm not cool with ACORN or the working families' party, or people that vote like democrats and run on Republican lines.
It's cool for me because I'm a director, but I'm also a teacher. I'm a lover of cinema, and I love working with people who are hungry and have the energy to really do better work.
